Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of physical tasks to support construction and fabrication activities at industrial and heavy construction worksites.
- Load, unload, identify, and move materials, tools, and equipment, including steel plate, pipe, structural members, rigging, scaffolding components, and consumables.
- Assist craft workers including fitters, welders, pipefitters, and ironworkers by staging materials, holding components in position, passing tools, and performing support tasks as directed.
- Clean and prepare work areas before, during, and after construction activities, including removing debris, grinding slag, wire brushing weld joints, and maintaining housekeeping standards.
- Erect and dismantle scaffolding, temporary barricades, and fall protection systems under the direction of qualified personnel.
- Operate hand and power tools including grinders, needle guns, drills, impact wrenches, band saws, and hand torches.
- Mix, pour, and spread materials such as concrete, grout, and sealants as directed.
- Perform basic rigging tasks, tend hoses and leads, and serve as fire watch during hot work activities.
- Assist in the layout, fit up, and tack welding of components under the supervision of a certified welder or fitter.
- Working knowledge of one or more welding processes required: FCAW (flux core arc welding), RMD (regulated metal deposition), GTAW (gas tungsten arc welding), or SMAW (shielded metal arc welding). Produce welds with minimal defects consistent with ASME B31.3 where applicable.
- Apply working knowledge of modular fabrication practices, including shop based assembly of pre engineered structural and piping modules, staging and material flow within a modular fabrication yard, dimensional control at tie in points, and the methods used to transport and erect completed modules.
Requirements
- Must pass a pre hire drug test and medical physical.
- Must pass a written and functional test administered at the project worksite or PSV worksite in Texas at employer expense.
- Must be able to lift and move a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Must be willing and able to climb and work in high places that may exceed 200 feet in height, and in confined spaces.
- Must adhere to all OSHA, company, and client safety protocols.
- These requirements apply equally between U.S. workers and H 2B program workers.
Shift Schedule
Workers will work one of two shifts: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM or 3:30 PM to 12:00 AM with a half hour lunch break on varying days of the week from Monday through Sunday based on client need.
