Duties and Responsibilities
- Weld metal pipe and plate components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions for industrial structural and pipe applications as defined by project specifications, drawings, and welding procedures.
- Set up, utilize, troubleshoot, and operate welding equipment for FCAW (flux core arc welding), RMD (regulated metal deposition), GTAW (gas tungsten arc welding), and SMAW (shielded metal arc welding) processes.
- Lay out, fit, position, align, and secure parts and components prior to assembly, using straightedges, combination squares, calipers, flange lip up pins, wrap arounds, center finders, and rulers.
- Clamp, hold, tack weld, heat bend, grind, or bolt component parts to properly fit plate and pipe to obtain required configuration and positions for welding.
- Weld with minimal defects as defined in ASME B31.3.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine the appropriate welding process and materials.
- Adhere to all company and OSHA safety rules and guidelines.
- Apply working knowledge of modular fabrication practices used in shop based assembly of pre engineered structural and piping modules.
Requirements
- Must pass a pre hire drug test and medical physical.
- Must pass a written and functional test administered at the project worksite or PSV worksite in Texas at employer expense.
- Must be able to lift and move a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Must be willing and able to climb and work in high places that may exceed 200 feet in height, and in confined spaces.
- Must adhere to all OSHA, company, and client safety protocols.
- These requirements apply equally between U.S. workers and H 2B program workers.
Shift Schedule
Workers will work one of two shifts: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM or 3:30 PM to 12:00 AM with a half hour lunch break on varying days of the week from Monday through Sunday based on client need.
